When we hit adulthood, the reality of life dawns on us. Often, we feel miserable for getting stuck in a job that we don’t love, or one for which we have no passion. But sometimes we don’t have a choice but to suck it up. Otherwise, we’d be left struggling to sustain our lives.
The reality is that the bills and responsibilities don’t care whether we love our jobs or not. No matter what, they are there for us to pay. That’s why you’ll always be frowned upon if you end up being unemployed. After all, you have no way of sustaining your life now, right? It turns out that this isn’t always the case.
The reality is that the bills and responsibilities don’t care whether we love our jobs or not.

Finding out what you really want
What’s great about being unemployed is that you have the time to think things through without worrying about a particular deadline. This is the time to reflect why you ended up resigning. What drove you to quit? Were you not satisfied with your salary and work? Did you had an argument with your boss and figured out that the two of you were incompatible?
Now that you have time to reflect, try to in line that with your dreams. What is it that you want? What do you see a version of yourself 5 or 10 years from now? The moment you find out what you really want, start working towards achieving it. This way, next time, you won’t get stuck in a job that you don’t like. This is the perfect opportunity for you to start working on pursuing your dreams while getting rid of unnecessary work stress.
Slack, but do work.
Now that you finally found what you love or dream of as stated in tip 1, it’s time for you to start working on it. Start scanning the job market for companies or organizations that are in line with your goals, priorities, and dreams. Start contacting and applying for jobs when you find companies that appeal to you.
And since this is not in any tight deadline, it’s okay for you to have some lay off time to slack off. There is no need to rush for an 8 am shift. No more stressing yourself to please your boss. Just take life easy and chill for a moment.
Do something you’ve always wanted to do.
Time is a luxury when you are working. The corporate world gives us the luxury to have money and buy all the things we want. Nevertheless, sometimes, we fail to acquire them because we simply don’t have the time for it. Time is a luxury when you are working. Now that you finally have all the time to do what you want, grab this opportunity to do it!
Dreaming of dying your hair? Go to the salon. Want to have some marathon of your favorite series until the crack of dawn? Do it now. Do you want to learn a new language or read a new book? Go and indulge yourself. This is your time.
Spend time with loved ones.
Now that you finally have some time, make up for your family by spending quality time with them. It’s important to bonds with your family as they are the only ones who’ll support and stand by your side even when others leave. Make memories with them and treasure them. At the end of the day, what really matters is the time you spend bonding with your family and loved ones.
Being unemployed might be tough for the meantime, but remember that it doesn’t last forever. Therefore grab that precious time to do something productive instead of sulking and wallowing in regret.
“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”
