All of us have experienced some digestive issues one way or another. It may be because we’ve eaten some foods that are difficult to digest (such as lactose and carbohydrates). These digestive problems may include bloating, constipation, diarrhea, or even vomiting.

When people experience digestive problems, they usually rush to take laxatives. But before you do that, just stop and think for a while. There are actually better and natural ways to ease your digestion. Here are the drinks that you should take to smooth out your digestion process.

Coffee or Tea

These two drinks are immensely popular.  Who wouldn’t want to add these delicious and aromatic beverages to their morning or evening routine? Most people have at least one cup of coffee or tea every day.

Tea and coffee contain caffeine, which has a natural property that stimulates your digestion and diuresis. It also triggers the contraction in your colon to move the hardened waste from the system.

Just a fair warning, though, caffeine may lead to diarrhea to some people who have allergic reactions. And remember, that too much is always bad.  That being said, too much caffeine may cause dehydration.

Honey

We all love eating sweets. In fact, we all have a sweet tooth, and most of the times, we love indulging in our sweet cravings. Honey is one natural sweetener. This sweet golden liquid is perfect on par with any meal on the table. It can be paired with coffee or tea. You can also pair it with your favorite oatmeal breakfast. To feel its full effect, you can mix one spoon with a cup of warm water and drink it 30 minutes before eating. You can also add lemon to increase its effectiveness.

Warning! For those people who have diabetes, we recommend that you take honey in moderation. Although honey is a natural sweetener, its is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream, resulting in an increase of the blood sugar level.

Fat-Free milk

Milk may cause digestive problems despite that it is one of the healthiest foods in the world. Although milk is the primary source of calcium, some people are allergic to it. Furthermore, the natural sugar in milk, also known as lactose, is incredibly difficult to digest. That’s why sometimes milk may cause bloating and other digestive problems.

However, drinking fat-free milk, on the other hand, has the opposite effect. True to its word, fat-free milk is low in sugar content, making it easier to digest. On top of that, it increases the two peptide hormones which work to stimulate the digestive tract.

Tomato Juice

Another cause of digestive problems is the lack of fibers in the digestive tract. Fiber promotes healthy digestion.  Tomato juice is packed with high amounts of fiber packed with vitamins to smooth out your gastrointestinal tract.
