We all dream of falling in love. Most of us would want to find a significant other to spend the rest of our life with. The moment we find them, we enter into a relationship and start the journey of togetherness. But to some of us, it seems our undying love is at test due to distance. As the saying goes,

Absence make the heart grow fonder

But is it really so? Many couples break up because of the distance they have between each other. How do we keep the fire of love burning despite the cold we felt when we’re away from our loved ones?

Read here how to survive a long distance relationship.

Read books

Most people love reading books. The great thing about reading books is that you instantly get hooked to the story and the characters. Reading books not only gives you some pleasure and entertainment but it also helps relieve your love story.

By reading books, you skip missing your loved one that much because you know in your heart that you love each other. Most of all, you know that he’ll always be there for you. Maybe not physically but his heart, mind, and soul will always be with you.

Become organized

The feeling of becoming organized not only covers your satisfaction of OCD but in general, being organized gives you a sense of being in control of your life. Therefore if you haven’t already, try to organize things in your life.

Make your bed when you wake up. Organize your closet, your bookshelf, and reassess whether your stuff is still useful or not. If they are, then keep them and if not, dispose them off. The sense of control will make you feel at ease and prevent you from constant worries. Remember that although you don’t have control over your long distance relationship, you’re still in control of what you feel.

Keep calm

The number one reason why you’re beginning to doubt long distance relationships is that we’re too anxious. You’re concerned that your significant loved one may run out of love for you. Or if not, you fear that they may find someone better than you wherever they are. While it’s entirely possible for this worst-case scenario to happen, you must be optimistic. Don’t let your doubt and insecurity get the better of you and your relationship.

Instead of doubting your lover, have some trust. Believe in the love they have for you. They will never betray you because the love is genuine and unconditional. Aside from love, you should learn to develop mutual trust and faithfulness if you want your relationship to last a lifetime.

 Keep up self-development

Have you ever noticed how your friends suddenly vanish into thin air the moment they find love? We often feel betrayed because it’s as if our friends suddenly forget us. It seems that their focus is suddenly centered around their significant other to the point where they don’t have time for us.

“You’re too far for my hands to hold you, but too near for my heart to love you.”   Heraline

Well, news flash! Having a long distance relationship is actually a blessing in disguise. You get time for yourself. It’s time to make up with your friends so that they don’t feel left out in life. Most of all, take this opportunity to do the things that you want. Pursue your dreams, do your passion and ensure you dedicate this time to improve yourself. Make your lover as your inspiration to do better.

Remember that they’ve sacrificed to be far from you (in the meantime) because they want the both of you to have a better future. In turn, do your best to become the best version of yourself. That way, when the time comes to be reunited again, you’ll be both ready to seal the deal and start an eternal life together.
