Chinese start-up NextEV has set a new electric car lap record at the Nurburgring with its NIO EP9 hypercar.The NIO EP9 can swap its batteries quickly; a full recharge can take as little as 45 minutes, giving 265 miles of range. The BAIC ArcFox-7 made its debut at the Beijing Show 2016; it has a 603bhp electric motor and can reach 62mph in less than three seconds.Chinese firms like BAIC have been encouraged to develop electric vehicles -- and that could make them real disruptors in the global EV market.TechRules' AT96 TREV is a hybrid that can reach speeds of more than 217mph, the company claims.TechRules is a good example of how Chinese-backed firms are trying to break into the international EV supercar market.
